Steinsdalsfossen (also called Øvsthusfossen and Øfsthusfossen) is located 2 kilometers west of Norheimsund in Kvam municipality in Hardanger. The waterfall is one of the most visited in Norway and is special because there is a path behind the waterfall where you can walk barefoot. The waterfall has a drop of 20 meters and reasonably good water flow, especially in May and June when there is snowmelt.
Stone behind Steinsdalsfossen
John Erling Blad (2009)
Steinsdalsfossen is a part of Fosselva which has its source from Myklavatn which is 814 m above sea level.
At the world exhibition in Hanover in 2000, Norway was represented with an installation by Marianne Heske, where a 15-meter high stylized copy of Steinsdalsfossen was an important part.
