After the jury in Donald Trump’s criminal hush money trial in New York came back with guilty verdicts for all 34 felony counts against him, reaction was swift and very different. House Speaker Mike Johnson called it a shameful day in American history echoing other Republicans. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, the Democratic chair of the Senate judiciary courts subcommittee, said “It’s only in honest courtrooms that the former president has been unable to lie and bully his way out of trouble.”
