STORYLINE:
An Israeli airstrike on Deir al-Balah in central Gaza killed 15 people, including three women and four children, local health authorities said on Thursday.
The bodies were taken to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital where they were counted by an AP journalist at the scene.
The airstrike hit a warehouse that belongs to the Palestinian social development ministry east of Deir al-Balah earlier on Thursday. The warehouse was used to shelter displaced people.
At least 35,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, according to the Health Ministry, which doesn’t distinguish between combatants and civilians.
Israel launched its war in Gaza after Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack in which militants stormed into southern Israel, killed about 1,200 people — mostly civilians — and abducted about 250.
