As the science continues to unravel, differences between spinal cord stimulation and DRG-S are becoming more evident. Neural transmission of low back pain in the spinal cord was not clear until the results of this therapy at the T12 level in particular. The role of which inhibitory transmitters are actually blocking the pain are yet to be elucidated, although we believe the endogenous opioid system plays a vital role in this process.
