The Witcher was developed by CD Projekt Red and originally released October 26, 2007 exclusively for PC. The Enhanced Edition was then released the following year in September 2008. A Director's Cut was also released July 31, 2009 in North America. The Director's Cut is the same as the Enhanced Edition, except that the censorship applied to North American copies was removed. As of when this video was published, The Witcher has received two sequels: The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

The Witcher is based on the book series “The Witcher” by writer Andrzej Sapkowski. The game's protagonist is Geralt. He is one of the few remaining Witchers in the world. The Witchers are mercenaries for hire who specialize in the hunting of monsters.

The Witcher received Above Average to Very Good reviews upon its initial release and has spawned a very strong following to the series of games.

This is actually my first playthrough of any Witcher game. I just somehow missed them throughout the years, but if I'm going to start now, I'm going to start with the game that began everything.
