Travel Better in January
It’s the start of the year and it’s cold, dark and wet. Many of us are looking to escape the winter blues so here’s some of our suggestions on how to Travel Better in January.
Tenerife - Hot and sunny all through the year, it’s the perfect place to escape for the winter sun. The south is home to all the popular beach resorts but be sure not to miss out on the volcanic landscapes of Teide national park or the rainforests of the north.
Iceland’s northerly latitude and the fact that January days last as little as four hours make it the perfect place and time of year to go hunting for the Northern Lights. Viewing tours are widely available out of Reykjavik. Just don’t forget to wrap up warm - It’s called Iceland for a reason!
Budapest in January is beautiful. The city park freezes over and becomes one of Europe’s largest and oldest ice rinks. Where else can you ice-skate next to a castle and gothic architecture? Then warm up in one of the thermal baths - in January it’s often snowing, so you can sit there in a hot water while it snows around you.
For a quick getaway - choose Amsterdam - it has art, culture, and history in abundance! The Festival Of Lights runs throughout January, and you’ll see the city beautifully illuminated with artworks.
If sun and a rich history is your thing - then Cuba should be on your January list! The country has finally opened up, so this year could be your last chance to see the authentic Cuba before tourism takes its hold!
