The native sports tracking on the Apple Watch is fine for general use, but if you’re a keen runner you will probably find that if falls short of what you need from your watch. Fortunately, one of the major strength of the Apple Watch is the vast App Store it has access to, and within that store there are several truly excellent running apps.
Whatever app you use the battery life and button setup on the Apple Watch will always frustrate some people, but some of the apps available can certainly make it a worthy watch for serious runners, providing most of the key features you would get from a dedicated sports watch.
Run Tester Nick has been testing out Apple Watch running apps for years trying to find the perfect solution, and in this video he presents his five favourite apps for the watch.
