Hey guys! So I noticed an error rather quickly since purchasing my Microsoft Surface 3 about 2 weeks ago. I would leave the tablet charging overnight and in the morning, it would still be at the same charge %! I got very annoyed but I went online and got the fix from Microsoft Technical Support. Here are the steps below:
Harvey: • Go to device manager. The quickest way to go to Device Manager is, If you have a cover, press on windows key then the letter "x" key and it will show you a list, Choose device manager. But if you are on windows 8.1 and you have no cover, you can go to the desktop, press and hold on the start icon (lower left) for 2-3 seconds then release. It will show you a list, Choose device manager.
Harvey: • Tap or click the expansion arrow for the Batteries node.
Harvey: • Press and hold (or right-click) on the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery.
Harvey: • Tap or click Uninstall. But don’t check to delete.
Harvey: • Install Windows Updates,
Harvey: • After the Windows Updates are installed Surface should restart and the battery will be automatically reinstalled.
Harvey: • Hovering over the battery status icon in the Windows taskbar should show a status of “plugged in, charging”.
Harvey: • Let Surface charge to 50% and then restart Surface (not Shutdown) to complete the installation of the update.
Hope this helps!
