Hey love! In today’s video I am introducing a tool called EFT Tapping, or Emotional Freedom Technique, that you can use to physically regulate your emotions when you feel emotionally dysregulated or imbalanced.
This technique is based on Chinese medicine and like acupuncture utilizes different meridian points throughout the body to activate certain channels of energy and promote balance and an internal ease and flow of energy.
The idea is to perform three rounds of tapping on specific meridian points while verbally speaking out loud words that address the emotions you are experiencing and the specific issue that has brought you into that emotional state.
As you do this, you #1 activate the mind body connection by tapping and speaking simultaneously, which helps form new pathways in the brain, and #2 you move the energy or emotion through your body gradually until you reduce the level of emotional activation you physically feel in your body. Ideally, after completing the practice, you would go from a higher level of emotion to a lower or neutral level of emotion.
