According to two China-based tour operators, North Korea will reopen one mountainous city, Samjiyon, to foreign tourists in December after around five years of border closures amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Beijing-based Koryo Tours announced on its website that having waited for over four years for this announcement.
Shenyang-based KTG Tours also announced that tourists would be able to visit Samjiyon at the end of the year.
In 2023, Pyongyang resumed international flights in and out of the country when a small group of Russian tourists arrived for a private tour in February.
