I was informed today that Miriam Nelson a Tap Dancer/Dancer and Choreographer is not in good health. Miss. Nelson is currently at home in Beverley Hills in comfort care surrounded by her family. Please keep Miss. Nelson and her family in your prayers and thoughts. Any further details I learn, I’ll pass on.
Doris Day worked closely with Miss Nelson on the film, Tea For Two, 1950. Miss Day talks about Miss. Nelson.
Doris Day endured a serious road smash that changed her direction in the entertainment industry. However, when you watch her energetic performance, you would never know. Credit should also be given to the Choreographers, Gene and Miriam Nelson for their ability to choreograph to Miss. Day’s strengths and abilities.
As a young girl, Doris Day always wanted to be a dancer. Miss Day entered numerous dance competitions and went on to win several. However, due to a serious car crash (Friday, October 13th, 1937) Miss Day’s right leg had shattered. At the age of 13 her direction for a career changed, and in Miss Day’s words.
"With all that enforced time on my hands, I began to get interested in singing for its own sake. Not with any thought of following it up, but just for my own amusement."
"I couldn't walk for almost three years. That was the greatest thing that happened. Instead of dancing, I sang. They carried me three times a week up a stairway to my music teacher."
What do you think about the dance number with Gene Nelson and Doris Day?

Miss. Day talks about working on the set of “Tea for Two,” including her experiences with her co star and the films choreographers Gene and Miriam Nelson.
"(Gene) who was super. His wife, Miriam, was an excellent dancer who helped him with the choreography and who was absolutely marvelous to me. When we first met, during the filming of Tea for Two, I confessed to Miriam my fears and doubts about being able to dance well enough to satisfy the sharp eye of the camera. Of course I knew my leg was all right, but since I don't like to do anything that I can't do very well, I had my doubts that my best would be good enough. Miriam took my hand and said, "Clara, I'm going to work with you, we'll have all the time we need, and I will see to it, I promise you that I won't let anything go by that isn't first-rate. I'll watch you like a hawk. That's going to be my job, just to watch you. Gene will do the overall choreography, but I will be your personal choreographer. Please don't worry. Trust me."
