The biggest problem for the Kia Niro EV is that the Hyundai Ioniq5 and Kia EV6 exist, both of which feel like they're offering a LOT more for not all that much more money, particularly if you get the loaded Wave edition Kia Niro. In Wave trim versus Wind trim, the Kia Niro gets pretty pricey, and even though it's loaded to the gills with options, rides well, and has a funky cool interior, both the Ioniq5 and EV6 do all of these things better. Megan couldn't get over the Kia Niro's exterior styling, which she absolutely hated, and she wasn't a fan of the lack of true one-pedal driving. She loved the interior, though. I didn't mind the way the Niro looked, but I think the smart move is to go for the far cheaper plug-in hybrid or regular hybrid trim. As a fuel sipping hybrid vehicle, the Kia Niro is pretty great and very affordable. As a pure EV, the Kia Niro is just good, and in this rapidly evolving space good isn't good enough for most people.
