I receive some interesting calls in my business! Last week, a gentleman in Ohio called to tell me I could really "blow up my youtube channel" if I got into more specific, entertaining details about life in federal prison.

For example, he suggested I cover how to make alcohol in prison, why people go to protective custody, how to smuggle in iPhones, how extortions schemes work in federal prison and more.

As I describe in this video, sensationalizing prison life is not our goal at White Collar Advice. Our goal is to educate defendants, and their families, on every aspect of the criminal justice system, including how to prepare for sentencing and life in prison.

I have no doubt there are other very successful and entertaining channels that cover details I will never cover. I am happy to leave it to them.

This gentlemen also suggested that I received a short federal prison sentence because I cooperated and went to protective custody. Where he got this information, I have no idea. While listening to him say things that were both funny and insane at the same time, I saw an opportunity to teach.

This video addresses something that is not talked about enough: why having a job can lead to a shorter federal prison sentence. Rather than just offer my opinion on why having a job helps, I offer specifics on how and why working with my good friend, Sam Pompeo, at Sotheby's International Realty helped me get a shorter federal prison sentence. In the end, I received a sentence of 18 months in federal prison; I was fully expecting to get at least two or three years.
