About 3 years ago I used to suffer from constant breathlessness. After a 2D echocardiography test, I got to know that my aortic valve was shrinking and had to be replaced. I was then suggested to undergo the Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement therapy as my heart was too weak for other major surgeries. Post the treatment, I started walking in just a couple of days and was also able to resume my regular activities in a few months.

About the treatment:
Aortic stenosis is a chronic heart condition which occurs due to the failing of the aortic valve. This chronic condition can be treated through a minimally invasive procedure called Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement therapy (TAVR). The procedure is done using an artificial heart valve. The device is a metal frame made with a blend of nickel and titanium which is placed inside the heart to replace the diseased, malfunctioning valve. This metal frame device shapes itself according to one’s heart structure and sets the blood flow back to normal.
