There are two types of temporary resident permits which include:
1) A TRP that you need to enter Canada, hence you need to apply for it from outside of Canada.
2) A TRP that you need to remain in Canada, hence you need to apply for it from inside Canada.
We will briefly explain both types of TRP applications in the upcoming videos.
TRP Application From Outside Canada
If you are inadmissible to Canada but still want to apply for a visitor visa, study permit or work permit, you will need to submit a temporary resident permit application along with the other temporary resident application that you are submitting to IRCC.
TRP Application From Inside Canada
If you want to remain in Canada as an inadmissible person, you will need to apply for a TRP.
Please note, if you have a family member, you will need to apply for each family member because one inadmissible person makes all family members inadmissible.
If you are studying or working, you can simply select the TRP checkbox in the appropriate study or work extension form as in the screenshots.
