So, I've worked on dozens of old Kalamazoo KG-14s but I've never had a WL-14 for sale in the shop before, though I've played a few. This variant of it, with its ladder bracing, is basically a modern carbon-copy of a '30s KG-14. The sound, feel, cut of the neck -- everything is almost on-spec for the KG-14s I've owned, sold, and played. It's slightly drier and a little more "creamy" on the top end, though -- typical Collings-ish things that I enjoy but are different from the originals. The top-end on authentic KG-14s is usually a bit more open and snappy -- this has tons of snap but it's a bit more velvety which can be easier on modern ears, for sure.
Overall, a killer guitar, well-made (it's a Collings, duh), and it even has a truss rod and... ya know... comfy modern frets.
