An excerpt from Miriam Peretz's most recent work, Luminous Darkness, from the first section titled, womb. This section explores the connection of the womb to divine compassion. In the Hebrew, Arabic and Farsi language the word for womb and compassion have the same root. This is a beautiful teaching in how the womb is known as the seat of compassion in the universe. The singers sing Rahamana, please divine one have compassion on her. This section was a prayer that the world recognize the potency of the womb, the mother, and the divine feminine as the source of compassion that can bring deep healing to humanity.
Luminous Darkness is deeply inspired by Miriam's personal life's journey in search for embracing the beauty and mystery of impermanence. Inspired by the possibility of transformation and illumination from traumatic life experiences through using dance as a healing art. Through embracing the beauty of human origins coming from the dark waters of life, the womb, recognizing the miracle of the human pulse and accepting the final return to the mother earth, we weave our stories into a beautiful tapestry called life. Miriam dedicated this piece to the blessed memory of her beloved teacher and guide, Sheikh Ibrahim Farajaje aka, Baba who wrote on the "Luminous Darkness."
