Could a piece of plastic replace traditional concrete footings?

When building a deck, traditionally the builder will dig footings and pour concrete for the foundation. Another method for low profile decks is concrete blocks that can be placed directly on the ground. We have designed and developed a product that makes deck installs quick and easy.

It is called TuffBlock. An instant foundation system made from 100% recycled plastic right here in Australia.

TuffBlock's are more than just a deck foundation, they are a versatile utility block that can be used for an endless number of applications including low profile and raised decks, temporary structures, rooftop decks, sheds, dog kennels, walkways and more.

An individual TuffBlock can support up to 1,700 lbs and break-tested to over 11,000 lbs. TuffBlocks will accept 1.38-1.61 inch or 1.61-1.85 inch joists and bearers as well as 3.5x3.5 inch or 4x4 inch posts. TuffBlock's are the most versatile and easy to use deck foundation systems on the market.
