Miami artist wants to play the national anthem during Super Bowl 2020.
Sound artist and master singing saw player Gustavo Matamoros wants to perform the national anthem at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday, February 2, 2020 (Groundhog Day) in celebration of Super Bowl 2020. “Just the notion to appear on Fox sports channel has to be a thrill,” says the rather shy and unassuming artist, adding, “I bet my notes will sound off more vibrato than usual.”
He accepted an invitation from PAXY to promote his wish by performing The Star Spangled Banner for Metro-rail riders the morning of December 2, 2019, who could sign a petition for Super Bowl organizers from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at the Government Center Metrorail/Metromover Station.
Relatively unknown outside the sound art and experimental music community—a community that embraces and celebrates his work worldwide—Matamoros claims his interest isn’t fame nor fortune.
He cites as his motivation for appearing in such high profile setting paying homage to his departed colleague, Art Kendallman who died 11.5 years ago. KMAN (for short) was the brilliant and unparalleled Miami based performance artist who some time after the Orange Bowl parade was no more, revived it as a one-man parade, dressed in his typical white, hand-painted camouflage costume while dragging a mini-float in the shape of a fighter plane. “KMAN was an uncompromising artist. He is gone because he felt no one paid attention. I know it is too late but something like this could help.” more about KMAN at: [ Ссылка ] or [ Ссылка ]
