The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have named their son George Alexander Louis. It means the heir and third in line to the throne, will be known as His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge. Historicaly there have been six King George's up to now, most recently the Queen's father.

Alexander is thought to be a nod to the several Scottish King's named Alexander, while Louis is William's fourth name.

Louis is also likely to be a tribute to Lord Louis Mountbatten, the Duke of Edinburgh's uncle, who was assassinated by the IRA in August 1979. Report by Sarah Johnston.
