In such a condition, 99.5% there is no pregnancy. There is no periods. Mirena is a method of contraception which is used or it can be used as a method of treatment for over bleeding. So basically Mirena is used to decrease the bleeding. Basically after a year or two, there is nil bleeding, that is absent periods. So absent periods doesn’t mean that the hormone inside the Mirena , that is levonorgestrol, which is released 20 micrograms on daily basis is acting well and has decreased the endometrial lining of the uterus so well that bleeding does not happen. It just means that there is no pregnancy. So leave her alone because the next cycles will be absent. Before insertion of Mirena, it is counseled to the patients that probably in a year and a half, orbeyond that also there will be absent cycles. It doesn’t mean that the person is pregnant or the person is reaching menopause, it just means that the Mirena is acting well.
