This session will consider the potential of digital currencies (i.e. CBDCs and stablecoins) for bridging the financial inclusion gap. According to the World Bank, some 1.7 billion adults worldwide do not have access to financial services. However, digital currencies could potentially offer low-cost, safe, real-time payments and therefore could be used In government programs and remittances.
