As a rule of thumb, Ayurveda recommends cold water for the head and warm water for the body. However as per the ayurvedic body types, Kaphas would prefer a warm bath, Pittas Luke warm and Vata
would prefer a hot water bath.
Dr. Neelesh Korde also recommends that one takes a bath about 30 minutes after exercise as it gives the body enough time to regulate.
