A young man wants advice on overcoming feelings of unworthiness. He says these feelings of shame and worthlessness are preventing him from expressing joy and love with his friends and in the world.
Rupert says that if you go inside yourself, first of all, there's the shame, the unlovableness, the unworthiness. Behind that questions come up around it — you're interested in it, curious about it. But if you go back further, before the verbal questioning has arisen there's just being with it. Whatever it is that is being with it — it is at peace with it. You could almost say that it's loving, totally open.
That's the place to find in yourself in relation to this feeling of being unworthy. Regularly go to that place of just being with it. The way for you to go out into the community and meet people and be with people and to feel worthy and to feel loved, is to find that place in yourself that you want to find in your friends.
It will take time but this being with it is the dissolving agent.
