About the Speech: Ertharin Cousin focussed on the continued challenges posed by food insecurity and hunger in the developing world. As work progresses at the UN towards an agreement on a new agenda for global development in September 2015, the World Food Programme has a vital role to play in meeting urgent food needs and developing solutions to chronic malnutrition. Ms. Cousin looked ahead to what the post-2015 policy agenda might look like, and reflected on what still needs to be done to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). About the Speaker: Ertharin Cousin was appointed in April 2012 as the twelfth Executive Director of the UN World Food Programme (WFP), the world's largest humanitarian organisation. In 2009, she was nominated by President Obama as the U.S. Ambassador to the UN Agencies for Food and Agriculture, and head of the U.S. Mission to the UN Agencies in Rome. Ms. Cousin worked in the Clinton Administration for four years, including serving as White House Liaison to the State Department, and received a White House appointment to the Board for International Food and Agricultural Development. - See more at: [ Ссылка ]
