Did you know General Crix Madine was meant to be a backup for Admiral Ackbar in Return of the Jedi? The filmmakers were unsure the Mon Calamari puppet would work, having so much dialog regarding the Battle of Endor, giving orders, delivering exposition, and expressing emotions like relief. Dermot Crowley’s character, Crix Madine, was filmed delivering the same lines and key moments of the film, just in case Ackbar didn’t feel right.
