I finally talk about one of my favourite games of all time from the 2000s, a game that would basically change the course for console shooters even after the monumental success of Halo 3, that had one of the biggest launches ever seen in gaming history.
Halo had to contend with a monster in the making that would eventually grow into the behemoth that was Modern Warfare 2 in 2009. To be clear, Halo was still popular around that time, same as with Halo Reach. But Cod by then was king of the hill at that point, and it would start up the Call of Duty killer phase of shooters.
Additional Notes:
When I spoke about Resistance I was also thinking more of the earlier period of the PS3's life cycle. Killzone 2 would come out in 2009, the same year as Modern Warfare 2 which would cast a large shadow over every other shooter besides Halo, and leaving Killzone in the dust effectively. But before that as well as the 6th gen era of shooters on the PS2. Sony's console didn't really have anything up to par with Halo 1 and 2 besides the first Killzone, Timesplitters and Black.
