I did NOT expect this while trout fishing. After years of trying to capture a moment like this on camera it finally happened. When lure fishing on a river there's always a chance of a surprise catch, but a spring salmon has to be the ultimate prize. I've travelled all over and put hours and hours into salmon fishing, and the wait was definitely worth it. For it to happen when I wasn't even expecting it was incredible...

In clear, low water sunny conditions on a river that typically only has salmon run from June, this could well be the luckiest i've ever been! And what a river to do it on too! Extremely private and exclusive, I was lucky enough to be able to fish as a guest of Andy from Rigged and Ready, so a huge thanks for that!
