Thousands of turtle eggs have been relocated from a beach in Cancun on Mexico’s Caribbean coast as the city’s Civil Protection issued an orange alert as Hurricane Beryl approached.
Around 10,000 eggs were being moved for their safety.
Wider efforts involving officials and volunteers were being put in place to protect some 105,000 along 12 km of coast, El Universal said.
