If there is one theory that particle physicists can't stop talking about, it is the Standard Model. This theory describes all known particles and their interactions. It is incredibly powerful, but unfortunately also incredibly complicated. High school mathematics won't get you very far if you want to work with it.
But what if you don't want to work with it, but instead just want to understand the general ideas behind the model? Well, then mathematics is not strictly needed. I think it is possible to understand the basic ideas upon which the model is built without having a PhD in advanced mathematics.
In this video, these basic ideas are explained. We will explore energies, local symmetries, fields and Feynman diagrams. Don't worry if you don't understand these concepts yet. After watching this video, you will know all about them ;-)
