When needle is shared, HIV in the syringe can survive for 42 days. So, HIV infection by needle-sharing is very possible.

Importantly, if you are engaging with needle-sharing, do not do it, but instead, get a fresh needle. It is very easy to pass HIV by needle-sharing.
