Did you know that trees actually need the nutrients they get from their fallen leaves?
And, as an added bonus, it means that you can save money AND do less work in your yard.
Leaves provide many benefits for your plants + shrubs, and they even offset some harmful behaviors. Here are just a few reasons to leave your leaves: they are part of your trees' natural cycle, they are free mulch, they reduce the need for fertilizer, and they prevent additional production of methane gas. As a bonus, they are beneficial to small animals and insects like Swallowtail butterflies and Rusty Patched bumble bees.
Instead of bagging them up and removing them from your yard, consider leaving your leaves. Simply rake them into your beds to use as mulch, or you can turn them into compost.
