Three suspects accused of stabbing and brutally beating a man with brass knuckles faced a judge on Wednesday.
The trio were formally charged for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon in Weslaco.
Police told Action 4 News that the suspects and the victim were childhood friends who's friendship turned sour.
Christopher Brown, Esequiel Rodriguez and Samantha Villarreal went to the victims home on March 2nd after an exchange of text messages.
Police said the victim invited the trio over to fight, and was jumped by the suspects with brass knuckles and a knife.
On Monday, McAllen police spotted the suspects. They led authorities on a car chase which ended with the suspects crashing with another car.
"That's where all three subjects fled on foot," Weslaco Police Department's Billy Pimelton said. "McAllen Police Department was able to apprehend all suspects and take them into custody."
While the suspects waited to stand before the judge they told the media that their actions were in self-defense.
Christopher Brown has a bond of $10,000 set for a previous burglary charge that is unrelated to this case.
