This is the second video in our series about the Legendary Elizabeth Taylor in photos. It covers the 1950s, with her first four marriages, her three children, and her two Oscar nominations for Raintree County (1957) and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1958).
What does it take to survive the highs and lows of Hollywood stardom? In the 1950s, Elizabeth Taylor's life was a rollercoaster of love, loss, and unwavering resilience.
Taylor embarked on a series of whirlwind marriages, tying the knot four times. Her first marriage to Conrad Hilton Jr. ended in divorce after just eight months. She then wed Michael Wilding, bearing two sons: Michael and Christopher. Tragically, her third husband, Mike Todd, died in a plane crash just a year after their marriage, leaving her devastated with their newborn daughter, Liza. Taylor found solace in the arms of Eddie Fisher, causing a highly publicised scandal.
Taylor's talent shone brightly on-screen, earning her two Academy Award nominations for "Raintree County" in 1957 and "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" in 1958.
Through it all, Taylor's indomitable spirit never wavered. But would the coming decades prove to be her greatest challenge yet?
