Kahu Taurima is the promise of better, more connected maternity and early years services in for all whānau in Aotearoa New Zealand.
It is the joint Te Aka Whai Ora and Te Whatu Ora approach to maternity and early years (pre-conception to 5 years old, or the First 2,000 Days of life) for all whānau in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Kahu Taurima supports by community, for community approaches to hauora that will make a difference for whānau now and for generations to come.
Kahu means cloak or growth and Taurima means to care for and nurture those that are most precious – our tamariki and mokopuna. Kahu Taurima represents the cloak of support that wraps around families in Aotearoa, making it easier for whānau to get the support they need, giving families choices and services that suits them best. It is designed to support whānau in their parenting journey so that tamariki receive the best start to life.
