This is a method used in anxiety/depression therapies, it greatly helps many people, but if you have complex trauma, this can sometimes do more harm than good. Because whatever's going on in your head is NOT simple 'thought errors', your issues from trauma go MUCH deeper, down to your nervous system. So this was actually pretty emotionally damaging to dismiss that part of myself as the "annoying useless voice in my head" which made that part of me feel dehumanized and rejected. I found much better healing after getting a therapy more specialized in trauma/dissociation and more helpful methods like that.

I usually don't make vids like this because I'm afraid to say the wrong thing. But this one is just things I tell myself personally, I hope it can help someone else as well ^.^ In this vid your best friend comes to comfort and cheer you up. It includes slow, deep breathing sounds and lots of affirmations.
"Shadow self" is just one of many ways to defuse anxious thoughts by detaching yourself from them and seeing it as a separate entity. The aim isn't to make your shadow self shut up (it might never shut up) but simply recognizing that it only says unhelpful, harmful things, and that they have no value to you. You can hear and acknowledge those things it says, but not listen to them because you know they are simply road blocks!
