The windshield wiper is a simple and effective device, however, changing wiper blades is not always as simple as you might think.
In fact, on some Kia models, changing wiper blades requires the activation of the Wiper Service Mode, and we are going to show you exactly how it works.:
As you know, the wipers are controlled with this stalk, and today’s advanced systems often include intermittent, and may be equipped with rain-sensing and rear wiper features.
It’s also important to note that the wipers are located under the hood line, which makes them hard to reach if you need to change the wiper blades.
And that’s why some Kia models have a very convenient Wiper Service Mode.
Here’s how it works …
First, turn the ignition on, then, turn the ignition OFF.
And – after turning the ignition OFF – you have twenty seconds to activate the Wiper Service Mode.
This is done by simply moving the wiper stalk into the MIST mode -- and holding it for a few seconds.
That will activate the Wiper Service Mode, and the wipers will automatically move into and hold the upright position.
When replacing wiper blades, refer to the process in your Owner’s Manual.
So, let’s recap that process one more time:
To activate the Wiper Service Mode on your Kia, turn the ignition on and then turn the ignition off.
Then, within twenty seconds of turning off the ignition, push and hold the wiper lever in the MIST position for at least three seconds.
And there you have it -- Wiper Service Mode.
To return the wipers to their normal mode, simply turn the vehicle ON, and press the lever into mist position, one more time, and the wipers will return to their normal.
That covers how to activate and de-activate the Wiper Service Mode on your new Kia.
