Amethyst Los Choyas Coconut Geode from Chihuahua, Mexico
This is a very cool looking geode we cut today. It has an amethyst center, rings of agate and quartz, and possibly even some opal. These geodes come from Chihuahua, Mexico, and come from mines one hundred to two hundred feet deep; these are not found on the surface.
These geodes go by the names of Coconut Geode, Los Choyas Geode, Los Choyas coconut Geode, and Mexican Coconut Geode. They range from solid, to semi-hollow, to hollow and are from 35 to 65 million years old. They can contain clear, brown, gray, black, blue, or purple crystal.

From Wiki: Geodes can form in any cavity, but the term is usually reserved for more or less rounded formations in igneous and sedimentary rocks. They can form in gas bubbles in igneous rocks, such as vesicles in basaltic lava; or, as in the American Midwest, in rounded cavities in sedimentary formations. After rock around the cavity hardens, dissolved silicates and/or carbonates are deposited on the inside surface. Over time, this slow feed of mineral constituents from groundwater or hydrothermal solutions allows crystals to form inside the hollow chamber. Bedrock containing geodes eventually weathers and decomposes, leaving them present at the surface if they are composed of resistant material such as quartz.

From Wiki: Amethyst is a violet variety of quartz.
Amethyst, a semiprecious stone, is often used in jewelry.
Amethyst can fade in tone if overexposed to light sources, and can be artificially darkened with adequate irradiation. It does not fluoresce under either short-wave or long-wave UV light.
Amethyst is a purple variety of quartz (SiO2) and owes its violet color to irradiation, impurities of iron (Fe3+) and in some cases other transition metals, and the presence of other trace elements, which result in complex crystal lattice substitutions
Amethyst is found in many locations around the world. Between 2000 and 2010, the greatest production was from Marabá and Pau d'Arco, Pará, and the Paraná Basin, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil; Sandoval, Santa Cruz, Bolivia; Artigas, Uruguay; Kalomo, Zambia; and Thunder Bay, Ontario. Lesser amounts are found in many other locations in Africa, Brazil, Spain, Argentina, Russia, Afghanistan, South Korea, Mexico, and the United States.

From Amazon:
SMART SLABBING MACHINE: Our powerful 10" lapidary slab saw machine is an American-made stone cutter for slabbing larger rocks, minerals, and glass into more manageable pieces. It comes with TWO different 10" saw blades to best suit your cutting material. The included notched diamond saw blade is designed for slabbing large rocks and minerals such as agates, jades, thundereggs, and geodes, while the included sintered diamond saw blade is designed for cutting large pieces of glass, topaz, quartz, and fine agates. Cut and slab up to 4" in height of material!
HIGH PERFORMANCE SAW: A powerful 1/3 HP motor that delivers a speed of 1,725 RPM is installed in this slab saw to provide plenty of strength for large cuts. The coolant reservoir is integrated into the machine's base and can hold up to 224 ounces of water. The included splash guard keeps water away from you, making it easier to work. This saw accepts any 10" saw blade with a 5/8" arbor hole.
