Recently, there has been a surge in cases of respiratory infections in children. A child may present with symptoms like fever or cough (with or without breathlessness) but the respiratory infection may reoccur when a child gets better. This phenomenon is known as immune debt, i.e. it is caused by lack of exposure to bacteria and viruses, not allowing their body to be stimulated against those infections leading to reccurrent infections in children and it is advisable to visit a doctor in such a situation.
Dr. Indu Khosla, Senior Consultant - Pediatrics Pulmonology at NH SRCC Children's Hospital, Mumbai shared the reccurent respiratory infections in children.
