Prosecution is presenting evidence that they say proves Alex Murdaugh murdered his wife and son. The defense is doing all they can to keep troublesome evidence out of the courtroom and out of the juror's minds. Although South Carolina is a death penalty state, the prosecutors have decided not to seek the death penalty in this case. Life in prison without parole is the maximum sentence Mr. Murdaugh could receive if convicted of both the murder charges and the two weapons charges. This trial is slated to last for three weeks.
