This is a test of the Samson 7 kit. I have owned the kit for a year or so now but never used it so I decided to get together with Eliot to do a test. To mic it I used the Qkick, QSnare and 3x Qtoms that came with the kit but because my drum kit has 4 toms, I bought a extra Qtom. Please keep in mind that I have edited the sound of the drums with Gates, EQ's and compressors to get the sound that I want.
Overall I think the mics sounded great and I would recommend them to anyone who wants to mic up their drum kit. If I could improve the recording I would put a hole in the front drum skin in order to get a better uncompressed sound. I would also put a Shure sm57 on the snare because I don't feel that the Qsnare really captures the best out of the snare.
