On July 26, 2010, at approximately 9:56 a .m. L.V.M.P.D. Patrol Officers responded to a shopping center parking lot in the 4800 block of West Desert Inn Road to investigate a reported robbery. Arriving officers discovered a female victim, 95 years of age, laying in the parking lot suffering from serious injuries.
At the beginning of the video, the victim can be seen exiting the store with her
purse and umbrella, while pushing a shopping cart through the parking lot.
At approximately 09:44:25 hours, the suspect's blue Nissan Sentra type vehicle can be seen on the opposite side of the parking lot, cutting through various parking spaces and passing by the front of the store.
The suspect vehicle then approaches the victim from behind. The passenger exits and attempts to grab the woman's purse and flee, however the victim held onto the purse, and a struggle ensued. During this struggle the victim was forcefully pushed to the pavement, however she managed to maintain control of her purse.The suspect vehicle then drives away and exits the parking lot toward Desert Inn.Two photos of the suspect's dark blue two-door sub-compact will accompany the attached video and this release.
The suspect is described as a white female adult, approximately 20 - 24 y.o.a., standing 5'5" tall and weighing approximately 120 - 140 lbs. At the time of the attack she was wearing a light brown dress. The driver of the getaway car is also described as a white female adult, possibly with long brown hair.
The victim, Bertha Meier, died three weeks later on August 16th,2010, from injuries sustained during the attack.
