Over the past decade a great deal of funding and resources have been dedicated to community-based design work, from architecture and urban planning to graphic and product design, yet far fewer resources have been dedicated to assessing the impact of these projects and initiatives on the communities and individuals they claim to affect. This panel discussion covers what designers can learn from how other fields think about impact measurement. Panelists include Sasha Dichter, chief innovation officer, Acumen; Robert Fabricant, co-founder and principal, Dahlberg’s Design Impact Group; Chelsea Mauldin, executive director, Public Policy Lab; and Rachel Dannefer, of New York City’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Presented by Design Ignites Change and Impact: Design for Social Change at SVA.
