Exploring the forgotten Island in Windang, South Coast of NSW in Illawarra region. This Island has a lot of history dating back to the late 1880's where a proposal to mine the Windang Island started but was abandoned due to lack of capital. Today you will see the remains of the trolley or cart wheels scattered throughout the Island and some parts of the rail system.
A hike to the top of the Island will give great views of the area incuding views towards Port Kembla and down towards Bass Point.
Exploring the outside of the Island you will find some hidden rockpools and there is also amazing beaches with crystal clear water.
On the entry side of Windang is toilets, kids play areas, BBQ facilities, boat ramps, areas to picnic, fishing spots and there is also a few cafes and takeway shops.
It is definitely is a great place to go on an adventure with family, friends or even a solo hike.
