NASA has successfully opened the container that brought back pieces of asteroid Bennu to Earth. The OSIRIS-REx mission brought samples back from a planetary body that is more than 4 billion years old. Two new tools were created to remove the two stubborn fasteners that stuck on the sample head. Each grain of the sample could unlock the secrets of how our solar system formed. The samples contain a variety of materials ranging from carbon to amino acids and even water-bearing clay minerals. The early results have shown that the samples contain a lot of building blocks of life. This could help us understand the origins of life on Earth and beyond.
