Hello, I’m Dr. Mateo
I want to take a moment to talk about breast cancer and the importance of mammograms with you.
We have seen a trend that shows that some women may have delayed breast cancer screening due to the pandemic.
I am here to say that it is important not to wait.
Mammograms are fast, easy, safe and the most effective way to detect breast disease.
Typically, we recommend starting screening at 40 years of age and every year after.
Additionally, it is essential to know if someone in your family has had breast cancer.
If you have a family history of breast cancer it may be recommended that you begin annual screening earlier than age 40.
At Penn Medicine, we offer free mammogram screenings.
And we are committed to the fight against breast cancer.
Thank you for listening.
