Don't get to many of these GSH 27 Hammers in for repair.
Amazing hammers they are, brilliant build quality. A nothing but steel and persicion.

Unlike a modern hammer with o rings for compression, this old beast uses persicion parts that seal themselves with only grease.
That is what the problem is here. The grease has dried up amd no longer sealing the hammer inside the piston.

wash out the old grease and install some fresh grease, and she's up amd hammering again.
