GAZ M-20 Pobeda was found in an old garage full of rubbish in Murmansk
The car stood inside motionless for more than 30 years and is pretty well preserved.
We often write about time capsules - old cars that have stood for many years in a garage without moving. Usually, all finds happen in the USA or Europe, but here's an amazing story from Murmansk.
No one has looked into this garage since 1985, which is more than 35 years. The area was packed to the roof with all sorts of rubbish, which reliably hid what was hidden inside.
Some time ago, the garage was sold with everything in it. The new owner decided to throw out everything unnecessary and literally gasped when a Soviet GAZ M-20 Pobeda car was found under all this waste paper.
The legendary Soviet car was carefully pulled out into the street, loaded onto a tow truck and sent for restoration.
“This is really a time machine! I think that at the end of August, after the restoration, we will demonstrate what the citizens of the USSR saw in 1954 when they looked at the Pobeda car,” - says the new owner of the retro car, Andrey Funtov.
“Pobeda” of the second generation with a "sailor suit" grille. The body of the car is painted brown and the roof has a rare Soviet-era trunk. Due to the dampness, rust has appeared in some places and the interior is spoiled with white mould.
In addition to the car, many more antiques were found in the garage, among which there are tunics, riding breeches, and even a shovel from the czarist times, dated 1915.
