Virtual reality is letting scientists “dive” into visual representations of their problems to learn how to solve them in new ways. These days, scientists are dealing with massive amounts of numbers (big data) that is hard to manage with traditional tools. Virtual reality lets them use all of this data in a way the human brain is accustomed to - by seeing it visually. You can dive down in layers of the Earth’s crust, travel the human body to see inside blood vessels and organs, or explore planets light years away. All of this is in the name of discovery and learning, as even classrooms are using VR to make learning more visual.
