Maine is located in the easternmost portion of New England, bordering Canada on the north, and the Atlantic Ocean on both the east and south. Maine is home to nearly 50% of the entire land area.
The northern reaches of Maine, also known by the name of The Great North Woods are mostly wilderness areas.
In contrast to the coastal areas, aided through tourism and fishing is more densely populated, especially in the southern part of Maine. Few states can boast the same number of iconic images as Maine. The endless backwoods, inhabited by moose hold an intangible appeal and evoke a single canoe, that barely riggles on the surface of the lake surrounded by forest and crystal-clear waters.
The most striking Lighthouses have crown points that stretch from York up to Quoddy Head.
And in between, they are a myriad of small fishing harbors and mile after mile of sand-crusted shoreline. Maine offers a great deal, while the state has a rugged coastal landscape and a plethora of lighthouses. In Maine, visitors can find National parks bursting with wildlife, beautiful historic towns, skiing resorts, and more.
